General Information

Armagh is located in the Armagh County of Northern IrelandUnited Kingdom and is home to two cathedrals and the Armagh Observatory, which are favourite sights.  The town was given city status in 1994, but remains small and is one of the least-populated places in Northern Ireland.

The two cathedrals are the Church of Ireland Cathedral and the Roman Catholic Cathedral, both named after Saint Patrick.  The Armagh Observatory was first established and then the Planetarium, providing those visitors interested in astronomy and space endless hours of entertainment.

The Mall, a central open area with cricket fields and wonderful Georgian buildings, is a must-see for any tourist.  Armagh is a place steeped in history with an interesting public library rich in 17th- and 18th-century English books, along with the County Museum which has a range of prehistoric artefacts.  Visitors to Northern Ireland should not miss spending some time in this fascinating little city.
